A family mourns the loss of a father and husband in New York after a workplace accident took his life.
According to local police reports, the 62-year-old man was working with the state Department of Transportation on a bridge. He was riding in a basket elevated by a boom truck when the truck ran into a steel support structure of the bridge. The man struck his head hard enough to cause fatal injuries; the second man riding with him was lucky enough to remain unhurt in the accident.
The workplace accident is now being examined by several Public Employee Safety and Health Unit investigators as well as DOT engineers. As with any workplace accident, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration is likely to send a representative as well to determine whether the workplace is safe enough to resume operations by fellow employees.

One carnival came to a sad end when a man lost his life in North Carolina.
According to the state's Labor Department, the man was part of a crew disassembling a ferris wheel at the carnival. After investigating the scene of the incident, the North Carolina Labor Department found 12 ways in which the company that ran the ferris wheel had violated state code. Although the company's headquarters is in Georgia, the state of North Carolina will be holding the company responsible for the man's death.
As a result of the incident, the company received fines totaling $27,000. It has 15 days to contest the citations, or work out a plan to make the full payment.
Have you recently been injured on the job? If so, you may be wondering whether you are eligible for workers' compensation. The best way to get your questions answered is by taking the time to consult with a

Wrestler Daffney to Seek Worker's Compensation
Posted By Personal Injury Editor
|
Daffney, a famous wrestler with TNA Wrestling, issued a statement on her Twitter account this week that she will part ways with TNA. Also known as the "Scream Queen," Daffney claims that her contract was not renewed since she filed a worker's compensation claim against TNA for injuries sustained while working for the company.
With the multiple injuries that Daffney has sustained in the ring her lawyer is certain that she is a deserving candidate for a worker's compensation suit. However, she has been advised not to release any further details at this time.
One such injury came from a taping of iMPACT! on April 20, 2010 when she was injured by novice wrestler Miss Betsy (aka Rosie Lottalove). Daffney was brought to the hospital and treated for a severe stinger, a deeply bruised sternum and a concussion. Although she did appear for two more tapings of iMPACT and Xplosion, December 9th marked her last appearance on TV.

Neb. Emergency Workers Ask for Extended Workers’ Comp Coverage
Posted By Personal Injury Editor

Emergency response workers throughout Nebraska gathered at a legislative hearing at the state’s capital to testify about their experiences when responding to traumatizing accidents.
The emergency workers are seeking a new level of coverage through the worker’s compensation system. A new bill calls for first-response emergency workers who experience “mental injuries” as a result of their job to recover workers’ compensation benefits. Many workers explained how difficult it was to mentally and emotionally recover from seeing the aftermath of fatal accidents. For example, o
ne worker testified that his co-worker suffered mental distress after responding to an accident in which his wife had died.
A similar bill was up for adoption two years ago, but Gov. Dave Heineman vetoed it.
In most states, workers’ compensation benefits are awarded only to those workers who have suffered a
physical injury while on the job. If you are interested in learning more about your legal rights in regards to workers’ compensation benefits, it’s best to consult an experienced attorney. Click here to
