Allegations Made Against Youth Treatment Center
Posted By Personal Injury Editor

Allegations of sexual abuse are now being investigated at a Norfolk-based treatment center for troubled youth.

The Pines Residential Treatment Center is now under scrutiny by Virginia licensing investigators who received a complaint from a young boy from North Carolina. The Pines actually has several treatment centers, but the Norfolk center has started withdrawing the 113 residents until the investigation has come to a close.

A spokeswoman for the facility has responded to the alleged abuse, saying that it was a "peer-to-peer" incident. A call last week to the North Carolina Division of Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities and Substance Abuse Services began the investigation, right after the alleged victim was released. However, preliminary reports are not showing any evidence-based proof of the abuse to provide credibility to the charges.

Has someone you love been harmed by sexual abuse? If so, call a personal injury lawyer today start discussing your loved one's legal rights.

Boston Priest Accused of Sex Abuse for Second Time
Posted By Personal Injury Editor

In Massachusetts, the Associated Press reports that a priest who was cleared by the Boston Archdiocese three years ago for allegations of child sex abuse is now facing more accusations.

Last week Wednesday, the archdiocese reported that Rev. Thomas Curran has been restricted from the public ministry following recent allegations that he sexually abused children throughout the 10970s and 1980s.

From 2002 to 2007, Curran was placed on administrative leave while the church investigated two sexual abuse allegations, which it found unsubstantiated.  Curran was then placed on permanent disability which restricted his ministry to family only.  Now, he is restricted from any ministry.

According to Cardinal Sean O'Malley, the recent charged have brought the archdiocese "great sadness" and went against its efforts to protect children within the church.

Have you been the victim of sexual abuse?  Take a stand today by hiring a personal injury attorney who can protect your best interests.

Indiana Nursing Home Named in Sex Abuse Lawsuit
Posted By Personal Injury Editor

A sexual abuse lawsuit has been filed against an Indiana nursing home and one of its certified nursing assistants.

The lawsuit was filed by Adell Franklin, 56, who claims a nursing assistant working at the home came into his room and touched him in a sexually suggestive manner without his consent.

Franklin moved to the Golden Living Centers in Merrillville after a stroke left him partially paralyzed. The lawsuit was filed against the nurse, 26-year-old Ismael Golden, and Golden Living Centers.

Golden has yet to comment about the allegations, but in an interview with the Post-Tribune a year ago he claimed that Franklin knew he was gay, and because Franklin disapproved of his sexuality he fabricated the alleged abuse because he didn’t want Golden to take care of him.

Golden has since been fired from the nursing home and charged with misdemeanor battery. He is scheduled to appear in Lake Superior Court on March 1.

The nursing home has refused to comment on the case, since it hasn’t been served with a complaint yet, but did say that it does not tolerate abuse or mistreatment of any kind and that Golden underwent a stringent screening process before he was hired.

Franklin’s lawsuit is seeking an unspecified amount in damages.

If you or a loved one is a victim of sexual abuse in a nursing home, you could have legal grounds to file a lawsuit and collect damages. To learn more, it’s best to arrange a consultation with a skilled nursing home abuse attorney as soon as possible!
