Man Loses Life during Wisconsin Construction Accident
Posted By Personal Injury Editor

A man lost his life in a construction accident last week in Wisconsin. Fellow workers tried to remove him from underneath a piece of heavy machinery, but to no avail. He was declared dead on the scene shortly after the accident took place.  When police arrived at the scene, the victim, a 58-year-old man from Black River Falls, was working on the site when a crane arm fell on top of him. Fellow workers were attempting to secure the arm when they lost control and it dropped onto the ground below. The crane is owned by a subcontracting company to the Department of Transportation for Wisconsin.

As with any workplace accident, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is likely to send an investigator to secure the construction scene.  Police do not have a definitive reason as to why the crane arm fell. At this time, nobody has been charged and the victim's identity will not be released until his next of kin has been notified.  Workers that have sustained injuries during an accident on the job should discuss their situations with a personal injury attorney as they may have the right to seek damages for the suffering they have endured.

  Construction Accident Takes Man's Life
Posted By Personal Injury Editor

A construction accident took the life of one man and injured several more in New York. The men were all working on a construction crane that collapsed without warning at a construction site in downtown New York City.  Based on their initial investigation, safety inspectors believe that a cable broke just below the boom on the crane. Since the accident took place, the New York City Transit Agency is working overtime to check all of the other cranes that are in use at construction sites to prevent a similar accident.

The company that owns the cranes is working with the authorities and a construction safety attorney to determine what caused the accident to take place. Records show that the company has relatively few safety violations in relation to the massive projects it has undertaken in the past.  If you have recently been hurt in a construction accident, you may be concerned about your future. Don't wait to discuss your case with a personal injury lawyer that can explain your legal rights as an accident victim.

Construction Accident Victim Suffers Minor Injuries
Posted By Personal Injury Editor

Luckily for the workers in involved in a construction accident on Thursday only minor injuries were sustained in what could have been a more dangerous situation. Unfortunately for the city of Waterloo, however, the Waterloo Memorial Recreation Comlex Swimplex will be closed indefinitely. City officials have decided to shut it down to investigate the accident further and clean up the wreckage.

It all happened when a platform collapsed that was supporting a boom lift, sending the men and all of the heavy equipment into the pool. Operations manager Lois Amos-Herter made a statement that "until we get the genie boom out of the pool and are able to do a further assessment of the pool, we're not sure when we'll be able to open."  This includes all of the New Year's Eve swims that had been scheduled for that day.

Local residents like Henry Zhou have voiced their displeasure at the pool closing, especially since it is not the first time this year the public has been denied access to it.

Posted By Personal Injury Editor

On Wednesday morning, a woman was charged with felony driving under the influence after she crashed into a construction zone in Virginia.

The woman, 48 year old Meta Hall, was driving drunk at around 11 AM when she crashed into a construction zone and hit a construction worker who was on the job.  The accident took place on a stretch of road on I-64 near the Glenside Drive exit.

According to reports, Hall was speeding and driving recklessly before she entered the barricaded area, causing the construction accident to occur.  Instead of stopping to check on the worker, Hall took off while witnesses phoned 911 for help.  Police were able to stop and arrest her 5 miles away from the accident.

The victim, 27 year old Brian Fitzgerald, suffered some injuries.  However, reports indicate that he is supposed to make a full recovery from his wounds.

When Hall was detained by police, she admitted that she had too much to drink prior to the accident.  She said that she was not aware that she had hit anyone while crashing into the construction zone.
