A young boy thought to be milking cows in Iowa was killed by an ATV causing serious concern to family members and the local police department.

Although the initial reports appear to be conflicting, police spoke with the 10-year-old boy and his family to determine the cause of the child injuries. They learned that the boy had been asked to close a gate in the pasture, which he chose to do by using an ATV. When a family member noticed that the gate had not been closed a short time later, they went to search for the young man.

What they found was the young boy trapped under the ATV. Since he was the only person on the ATV at the time, and nobody else was in the vicinity, police determined that the accident had been caused by the young boy himself. He was transported to University Hospitals in Iowa City by helicopter, but lost his life a few hours later. Autopsy reports show that the victim suffocated as a result of the ATV's weight.
