In Medford, a child had to be hospitalized after she suffered a brain injury. Reports indicate that the 3 year old child was assaulted by her mother's boyfriend, which caused injury to her brain. After the assault, the child had to be rushed to Doernbecker's Children's Hospital in Portland and was listed as being in critical condition.
Police were informed of the girl's injuries after the mother contacted them. An investigation revealed that the boyfriend, 29 year old Benjamin James George, had assaulted the child and caused a subdural hematoma. Officers arrested George and charged him with first-degree assault. He currently remains in police custody in lieu of $1 million bail.
Law enforcement officers are closely monitoring the child's health. They say that the first-degree assault charge could lead to George being sentenced with a minimum of 7 years and 6 months of jail time.
If you sustained an injury due to someone else's actions or gross negligence, you owe it to yourself to speak with a personal injury attorney about your legal options. |
