While they were on their way to a local hospital two paramedics were injured by a hit and run driver in Los Angeles.

According to police Sgt. Cy Feliciano one paramedic received a shoulder injury while the other was knocked unconscious when their ambulance was hit by the other driver. Police are still searching for the driver who fled on foot after causing the car accident.

Luckily both paramedics were treated quickly and released shortly after. As for the patient in the ambulance, no further injuries were inflicted and the patient was transferred to another ambulance.

According to officials in Wareham, Massachusetts, a truck accident is to blame for the house fire that happened at 5 Oak Street last week.

The truck was travelling down Oak Street around 9:30 p.m. when it lost control and hit the home, knocking it five feet off of its foundation and winding up in the basement. There were three occupants in the car at the time, two of whom were able to get out on their own while the driver had to be extricated. Emergency responders med-flighted one passenger to a local hospital, the condition of the passenger is still unknown.

Although there were two people inside the home at the time of the truck accident they were both able to get out safely. Fire officials have deemed the damage to the home to be complete and irreparable.

A fatal car accident is responsible for taking the life of rapper Soulja Boy's little brother last Sunday.

A car accident at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden has left involved an elderly driver and an unfortunate passerby.

Sheriff's deputies report that the 84-year-old driver was attempting to pull into a parking spot when she hit the gas pedal instead of the brake. As a result of her error she pinned a man standing between her car and the rear of his car. Instead of releasing the pedal the woman panicked, further depressing the gas pedal, pushing the man and his car another fifteen feet before coming to a stop.

The victim is currently being treated at a local hospital for moderate to serious injuries to both his legs. Although the woman was not taken into custody, she was referred to the Department of Motor Vehicles for review of her driving capabilities.

Eastern Carolina has seen a string of deadly car accidents over the past few weeks, including the latest that happened just last week.  After comparing these accidents, however, one factor is common to many of them: young age.

In one accident a 20-year-old fell asleep at the wheel while driving on Greenville Boulevard. In another incident a 17-year-old crashed while speeding along Langston Road; just a short while after an 18-year-old crossed the center line of Cemetery Road.

According to North Carolina State Trooper Megan Kongs, youth is not necessarily the only factor in these accidents. She said that they are "distracted by the passengers; they're distracted by other things such as their telephones, GPS, and radios." Distraction is a key factor in these crashes, Kongs emphasized, while commenting that the three above accidents all had more than two people in the car at the time of the crash.

In these cases, however, distraction proved to be deadly for the drivers. The most recent car crash on Cemetery Road is still under investigation.

Tragedy struck when four teenagers lost their lives in a car accident in Florida.

Andrew Monroe, 19, was one of the teens involved in a one-car crash last Sunday. The car was being driven by Monroe's friend, 19-year-old Sean Leonard, who apparently lost control of the vehicle around 5:25 a.m. According to the Florida Highway Patrol the vehicle left the roadway and then crashed into a wall.

Also riding in the car at that time were Leonard's sister, Jessica Leonard, 14, and her friend Kelly Janis, 15. Even though alcohol was ruled out as a factor in this crash and all but one person was wearing a seat belt, the teens all perished in the car accident.

This crash was the fourth one this school year involving a FGCU student. Just two weeks earlier Fara Amsalem, a graduate student, was killed in a two-car crash in Lehigh Acres.

Daffney, a famous wrestler with TNA Wrestling, issued a statement on her Twitter account this week that she will part ways with TNA. Also known as the "Scream Queen," Daffney claims that her contract was not renewed since she filed a worker's compensation claim against TNA for injuries sustained while working for the company.

A father and his little girl both became victims of dog bites in West Palm Beach last week.

Police are investigating the attack that happened between Tim Kelly's pit bull-German Shepherd mix and Ryleigh Sills, 18 months old, and her father. Ryleigh was flown to Delray Medical Center with bites on her stomach while her stomach while her father was transported to Palms West Hospital with bites on his arm. The incident occurred inside a home on the 900 block of Sumter Road East where the 5-year-old pit bull mix and another dog live.

Workers from the Palm Beach County Animal Care and Control were dispatched to the home to collect Stormy, the dog in question. At this time it is uncertain as to whether Stormy will be euthanized as a result of the attack.

After her truck was hit by a fire truck last week Jewel's fans were seriously concerned.

The singer is currently expecting and her accident caused ripples of concern when reports came out that her car was struck in Texas. Tragedy struck a family when their 13-year-old daughter was taken away from them too soon. A truck accident on Interstate 70 was the result of a semi-tractor striking the Oldsmobile carrying Justice Holifield of Indianapolis.

According to Indianapolis police the van was driven by 26-year-old Kyle Bieda, a band instructor at Harshman Middle School. Bieda, along with the victim, a 12-year-old girl and a 13-year-old boy were driving to the store to get some supplies for a school event.

The semi truck was traveling south on Harding Street when it struck the Oldsmobile going north on Harding Street. In a statement issued by the police department, officers stated that "the entire IPS family is sadly deepened by the loss of Justice Holifield, a seventh-grade beginning band student at Harshman Magnet Middle School." Additional staff members have been brought in to help the students cope with the tragedy and their feelings of loss.

The two passengers in the back were treated for minor injuries.

A driver distracted by reading a map is possibly to blame for the bicycle accident that happened in Champaign County last week.

Cindy C. Combs, 53, and her husband David Combs, 51, were out for a ride on their tandem bicycle when they were struck by a Honda Accord driven by Errol T. Maul. The accident occurred around 4:30 p.m. on County Road 500 E just north of 1800 N. As a result of the accident Cindy lost her life while her husband remains in critical condition at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana.

Although police are still investigating the case, sheriff's Lt. Allen Jones told the press that "We don't have any reason to believe he was impaired or was using his cell phone. We believe he was distracted by using a map in the car but we are going to examine all possibilities."

At this time Maul has only been given a ticket for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. An autopsy performed on Cindy later that week showed that she suffered from multiples injuries sustained as a result of the bicycle accident.

A traffic accident in Natchez has left Mississippi writer Greg Iles in serious condition last week.

According to Patrice Guilfoyle, a spokeswoman for the University of Mississippi Medical Center, the author was admitted on Monday night. However, she was unable to give any details about his condition as privacy laws prevented her from doing so.

Authorities believe that Iles was injured when his car collided with a pickup truck on U.S. Highway 61. According to Adams County Sheriff Chuck Mayfield the woman driving the truck was also injured in the accident. At this time police are not releasing her identity or her current physical conditions.

A construction accident took the life of a Canadian national in Kitwe last week when a broken metal plate pierced through his neck.

According to Copperbelt Police Division Commanding officer Dr. Martin Malama, the victim has been identified as Robert Hall, a father of four. Hall was in the country as a missionary and volunteer at Trans Africa Theological College. Dr. Malama went on to say that "He was trying to help with the building that was going on at the college but as he was working, a broken metal plate from a grinding machine pierced through his neck and he bled to death." The accident has been described as unfortunate by everyone involved.

At this time Hall's body is being held in a mortuary at Kitwe Central Hospital.

When a street race in Pomona left three people dead, police hunted down the driver responsible. However, he has since then pleaded not guilty to the multiple felony charges against him.

Roque Torres, 28, was charged by the district attorney's office for three counts of second-degree murder, three counts of vehicular manslaughter and one count of leaving the scene of an accident in the December 2002 car accident. At that time he was racing his 2002 Acura RSX against a 1993 Honda that slammed into a van, killing the three people inside the Honda. Witnesses to the car accident told officials that both cars appeared to reach speeds exceeding 100 miles per hour.

Police were unable to solve the case for almost eight years until they recently received an anonymous tip last October.
